Amber Sandoval-Griffin is a writer, editor and photographer with a Master’s degree and a magazine concentration from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
She recently took her writing and journalism background in a different direction, working as the Internal Communcations Specialist of Ochsner Health System, a not-for-profit health care system in Louisiana.
Her career experience includes working as an editor and content manager at MyRecipes.com, a website ran by Time Inc. based out of Southern Progress Corporation in Birmingham, AL. Within Time Inc., she began temporarily editing and managing SouthernLiving.com and then moved on to work as the web editor and producer at CoastalLiving.com.and Sunset.com through the end of 2010.
Other work has included a fellowship through the Kaiser Family Foundation at the Times-Picayune in New Orleans in 2009 where she covered a variety of news topics from health to crime.
For her undergraduate studies, Amber attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where she double majored in English and Spanish and studied abroad on two separate occasions: first at Cambridge University in England and then at Carlos III in Madrid, Spain.
After graduating from UCSB, she worked as an editor at a utility consulting firm in Oakland, Calif., and lived in the Haight Ashbury area of San Francisco for nearly two years before attending Columbia.
Born and raised on a farm in Salinas, Ca., Amber has always enjoyed writing, but during her travels throughout the world, she developed a love for telling stories about the life, beauty and human stories that she encountered along the way.
